Khamenei warns 'consequences of war 10 times more detrimental for US'

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned that Iran will respond on its nuclear program, saying the consequences of war would be "10 times more detrimental" for the US.

"They have threatened that all 'options are on the table'... Threats of war are detrimental to the United States, and carrying out a war would be 10 times more detrimental for that country," The New York Post quoted Khamenei, as saying.

"In response to threats of oil embargo and war, we have our own threats which will be implemented at the right time, if necessary," he added.

His statement came after the US warned Iran to halt its nuclear program.

US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta had also said that he was concerned that Israel may decide to attack it as early as this spring.

He also warned that Iran would support any group or nation, which attacked Israel.

"In future too, we will support and help everyone who opposes the Zionist regime. The Zionist regime is a real cancerous tumor that should be cut and will be cut," he said. (ANI)
