In a statement released on Friday, Spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei denounced the interfering and hypocritical stances that Germany has adopted against Iran.
His statement came after a spokesperson for Germanys Federal Foreign Office on April 7 hailed the extension of the mandate of the so-called Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the human rights situation in Iran by the UN Human Rights Council and accused Iran of serious human rights violations.
In response, Baqaei hit back at Germany for the constant abuse of human rights mechanisms for achieving its political objectives against Iran.
He also decried the move by Germany, the UK and a number of other governments to initiate a resolution against Iran at the UN Human Rights Council as part of their double standards and arbitrary stances on human rights.
Germany, the second supplier of arms to the genocidal Israeli regime, is complicit in all crimes and egregious violations of human rights and humanitarian law against the innocent people of Palestine and the region. As a result, Germany lacks the moral or legal credibility to portray itself as a sympathizer of human rights, Baqaei stated.
He further reminded Germany of the Iranian nations call for the European countrys accountability for its deliberate and active role in the promotion of the former Iraqi regimes chemical program that resulted in the martyrdom and injury of many Iranian civilians and military forces during the imposed war in the 1980s.
The spokesman advised the German officials to prove their sincerity about advocating human rights and justice by accepting Irans formal proposal for the formation of a joint fact-finding mechanism to discover the truth about the role of Germanys state-run and private companies and officials in arming the regime of Saddam Hussein with chemical weapons.
