In comments at an event held on Saturday to mark the anniversary of the return of an Iranian naval flotilla from a round-the-world mission,Pezeshkian stressed that Iran is not afterwar, although it is not afraid of fighting either.
He stated that Iran has always favored dialogue and will continue to hold negotiations, but it will never renounce its inalienable rights under threats.
We will not abandon our glorious achievements in the military, scientific, nuclear and other sectors, the president underlined.
Pointing to the US presidents recent tour of the Arab countries in the region, Pezeshkian deplored Donald Trumps contradictory stances.
Trump made a series of comments in the region that nobodybut himselfwould believe. On the one hand, he talks about peace, and on the other hand, he says we have tools that create destruction in the world. Which words should we accept? The message of peace or the message of destruction of human beings? the Iranian president added.
While Iran and the US are engaged in indirect negotiations to reach an agreement on Tehrans nuclear program and the removal of sanctions, the Iranian authorities maintain that the country will by no means forgo the right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.
