(250320) -- JERUSALEM, March 20, 2025 (Xinhua) -- People attend a rally near the Israeli Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem, March 19, 2025. A mass rally broke out in Jerusalem on Wednesday, protesting against Israel's resumption of military operations in Gaza, and calling for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages.
Israel has launched a "targeted ground operation" in central and southern Gaza, aiming to create a buffer zone between the northern and southern parts of the Palestinian enclave, the military said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to the military, the operation was launched "in the past 24 hours," shortly after Israel ended a two-month ceasefire and resumed airstrikes. (Photo by Gil Cohen Magen/Xinhua)
