ABU DHABI, UAE - The National, the English-language newpaper based in Abu Dhabi, has appointed journalist Manus Cranny as its Geo-Economics Editor. This newly established role focuses on reporting at the intersection of macroeconomics, business, and geopolitics, particularly within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Cranny brings over 30 years of experience in business, finance, and media. Prior to joining The National, he served as an anchor at Bloomberg, hosting morning news programs from New York, London, and the UAE. His reporting has covered significant global events, including the European debt crisis and U.S. presidential elections. Throughout his career, he has conducted interviews with prominent figures in finance and energy sectors.
In his new position, Cranny will lead The National's coverage of economic trends and developments, providing strategic editorial guidance and contributing to the outlet's video journalism initiatives. The creation of the Geo-Economics Editor role aligns with The National's efforts to enhance its reporting on global economic and geopolitical issues.
Established in 2008, The National operates with a main newsroom in Abu Dhabi and maintains bureaux in London and Washington, D.C., along with correspondents in various global cities. The publication is part of International Media Investments, a privately-owned media group headquartered in the UAE.
