DUBAI, 21st April, 2025 (WAM) -- Dubai will host the 12th International Middle East Joint Replacement Congress, from 25th to 27th April at Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel, in the presence of more than 1,000 international surgeons and specialists in implants and joint replacements, organised by InfoPlus Events.
Dr. Samih Tarabichi, Chairman of International Middle East Joint Replacement Congress, and Consultant Joint Replacement Surgeon, outlined the importance of this prominent event, as it brings together a group of prominent surgeons and speakers, as well as trainers, nurses, and medical students from different countries of the world.
He explained that the congress will feature a comprehensive scientific program covering a range of specialised topics such as knee replacement surgery, pelvic replacement surgery, shoulder replacement surgery, foot and heel replacement surgery, infection in joint replacement, fracture around the implant, innovation in joint replacement, sports medicine for the knee, musculoskeletal medicine and oncology, and discussion sessions with experts.
Dr. Samih highlighted that the Scientific and Organising Committee includes 28 distinguished doctors, along with 85 regional and international speakers representing 20 participating countries. He also pointed out that the congress comprises a total of 21 scientific sessions, featuring 130 scientific lectures, 39 research presentations, 13 research lectures dedicated to doctors and resident doctors, and 8 workshops and symposiums tailored for the industrial sector.
He emphasised that this year's congress marks the first collaboration of its kind in the region with AO Recon - a global network of orthopaedic surgeons dedicated to providing advanced education in joint preservation and replacement, highlighting the congress's commitment to elevating medical education and promoting clinical excellence.
In turn, Dr. Mohamed Muath Adi, President of the International Middle East Joint Replacement Congress, indicated that the current session of the congress will focus on modern technological developments, such as designing custom joints using three-dimensional printing techniques, innovations in robotic surgeries, presenting complex surgical cases to discuss with experts.
Additionally, the congress will offer seminars and workshops to train doctors on the latest joint replacement methods alongside global developments in sports medicine, ankle surgery and joint reimplantation - all aligned with region specific standards.
Dr. Jaber Al Khayeli, Vice President of the International Middle East Joint Replacement Congress, explained that bone anatomy varies between patients according to geographical and cultural background, as patients in the Middle East need articulated designs that suit the nature of their lives, such as the ability to sit on the floor and perform prayers, which makes innovation in design essential to improve treatment outcomes.
He added that the congress will include specialized scientific sessions showcasing the latest medical research, along with live-streamed surgeries performed by international experts to offer practical insights into advance orthopaedic techniques. Additionally, an "Ask the Experts" session, will provide participants the opportunity to engage directly with leading figures in the field.
Over 20 leading companies from the pharmaceutical and medical device industry are participating in the congress, reflecting the pivotal role of innovation in the development of orthopaedic technologies and enhancing the quality of healthcare.
