CAIRO, 22nd April, 2025 (WAM) -- The United Arab Emirates participated in the 163rd session of the Council of the League of Arab States, which began today at the HQ of the Arab League's General Secretariat in Cairo, at the level of permanent representatives.
The UAE was represented by Mariam AlKaabi, the UAE Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League.
The agenda of the current session included several key items covering political, economic, social, legal, financial, and administrative issues. Among the most prominent was the item on strengthening joint Arab action.
The draft agenda also included an item on the Palestinian cause and the Arab-Israeli conflict, addressing various subtopics such as political developments in the Palestinian issue and the conflict, activation of the Arab Peace Initiative, Israeli violations in occupied Jerusalem, support for the State of Palestine's budget and the resilience of the Palestinian people, Arab water security, Israel's theft of water in occupied Arab territories, and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights.
The meeting also addressed several permanent items related to Arab affairs and national security, including the evolving situations in Libya, Yemen, Sudan, and Somalia, solidarity with Lebanon, developments in Syria, the Iranian occupation of the UAE's three islands, the security of navigation and energy supplies in the Arabian Gulf, forming a unified Arab stance on the violation of Iraqi sovereignty by Turkish forces, and support for peace and development in Sudan, assistance to Somalia and the Comoros, as well as a peaceful resolution to the Djibouti-Eritrea border dispute, and discussions on the Ethiopian dam.
