GENEVA, 19th May, 2025 (WAM)-- The United Arab Emirates has participated in the preparatory Executive Offuce meeting for the 62nd regular session of the Council of Arab Health Ministers, held today at the HQ of the Arab League mission in Geneva.
The meeting was chaired by the Arab Republic of Egypt, and saw participation from the UAE, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of Iraq, the State of Palestine, and the State of Qatar.
Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the Arab League, stated that the meeting discussed a number of important health-related topics. Foremost among them were the health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights. These discussions came in the context of the unprecedented humanitarian and health crisis in the Gaza Strip, which has severely impacted healthcare services. The meeting also addressed the continued provision of health and humanitarian support to the Palestinian people in Gaza, as well as the health and humanitarian situation in the Union of the Comoros.
Dr. Abu Ghazaleh added that the meeting also covered topics such as medical and medical tourism in the Arab region, updates on the activities of the Arab Authority for Blood Transfusion Services, and the Arab Medicines Agency (WAAD).
