ABU DHABI, 18th April, 2025 (WAM) -- The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation (UAEJJF) Board of Directors held its regular meeting on Wednesday at the Federation's headquarters in Abu Dhabi to evaluate the current season's achievements and review preparations for the 17th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship.
Chaired by Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAEJJF, President of the Ju-Jitsu Asian Union, and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the meeting addressed upcoming continental and international competitions for the National Team.
Alhashmi expressed gratitude to President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, for their continued support of the sport. He noted that this support remains key to the UAE's sustained success in regional and global jiu-jitsu.
The board discussed ongoing strategic initiatives to enhance the sport's reach and reviewed the detailed schedule and logistical preparations for the 17th edition of the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, set for November.
Vice Chairman Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri emphasised the championship's global stature and reaffirmed the Federation's commitment to hosting an exceptional event that reflects Abu Dhabi's status as a leading sports destination.
The meeting also covered plans for the UAE National Team's participation in key international events, including the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Thailand, the JJAU Regional Championship West Asia in Jordan, the JJIF World Cup in Croatia, the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain, and the World Games 2025 in China.
Preparations include intensive training camps to enhance athlete readiness across all categories. The board reviewed local club development, identified challenges and growth opportunities, and outlined steps to support talent development and community engagement.
The 2025 budget was reviewed to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and the continued advancement of the UAE's jiu-jitsu ecosystem.
The meeting concluded with agreement on the need for enhanced collaboration and partnerships to sustain the UAE's leadership in global jiu-jitsu.
